Runny noses and dust storms
by Matt Worley

Spring blew into town this week.

Warm windy days dominated and it was, actually, right on time. The last few weeks of winter were really warm. Hot even, especially for the season. But spring did what it always does here: blows. It'll stop blowing, but for the moment, it blows, I sneeze and blow my nose.

I haven't been able to stop sneezing this morning. Luckily I have a lot of Kleenex.

Yesterday, with a whole afternoon of nothing specific to do, I cleaned the place. Did the dishes. Vacuumed. Cleaned the bathroom (which, if anyone is wondering, is my least favorite domestic job). And had the doors open (front and back) for most of the afternoon.

This could have contributed to my stuffed up night and sneeze-a-thon morning.

I didn't win the Mega Millions big ass jackpot (someone or ones in New York did).

I won't win the bracketology degree.

Not sure if there are any other competitions I'm involved in, but I probably will be a loser in those as well. It's not winning time for me.

But I'm not really down about any of that. They were long shots. And didn't cost me much.

Nope, it's time for stuff to blow. And so it goes.

And I'll go back to work on Monday and do it all over again.

Something will blow into my life. I'll figure out what it means, and if it should stick around. Then it will get hot. Like summer hot.

And I'll forget about sneezing and wind and mountains disappearing in dust storms. I'll just be bitching about how damn hot it is, and how ineffective my swamp cooler is after the temperature gets to a certain degree.

Should be a good time.
