It's official. Obama will run for a second term as president. This made think of all the accomplishments he's had during the first two and a half years:

Wow. I can't think of one thing he's done that was really impressive since becoming president. Not. One. Thing.

We were all going to have universal health care. That turned into universal health insurance. Now, we don't know what it means. We may never know. Put that in the loser category.

We were going to get out of the Bush wars. That turned into a ramping up of Afghanistan troops, still 50,000 troops in Iraq, and now bombing Libya for infighting. All of this violence and aggression has accomplished...not much. Still paying for wars with no end, and we wonder why are economy is slow to rebound.

Speaking of economy, the best thing I can say is it's not getting worse...except that it actually has this year. In the first three months, I have worked more and made less in the cab each month. March being the biggest disparity. I made a thousand dollars less than last year. Fuel prices are up. Food prices are up. But hey, the stock market is up. The rich get richer. The rest of us eat crow.

By the way, the president said in response to rising gas prices 'Gas prices go up and down all the time,' That's a response I would expect from a Bush. In fact, it's really hard to find a lot of differences between how Bush ran things and Obama is running things. All of the decisions disappoint or anger me. I didn't see that coming.

The Democrats had two years of complete control of Congress and the Presidency. They accomplished that health care bill that no one understands. They lost control of the House after two years, and Obama decided to keep the tax cuts for the rich. What the...? Did I mention that our economy is just sort of waffling right now? Maybe it's time to make the rich pay for their richness. Instead, people on social security no longer get COLA adjustments, and anyone who believes they will get any entitlements in twenty years is a flat out fool.

The President even did the unthinkable and picked all four #1 seeds to make it to the Final Four in the men's college basketball tournament. Anyone with any hoops savvy knows that a #1 seed always falls before the Final Four. Not only did one fall, but none of the #1 seeds made it. If the president can't even take a chance in his basketball brackets, what chance does the country have of him thinking outside the box?

If there's one thing I have liked about the Obama administration, it's the First Lady's crusade against childhood obesity. I doubt it will change the overall state of lard in America, but at least it's a noble goal worth pursuing. I can't say that about much of anything else in the last two and half years. The Prez has told kids to take more science, but Americans are always good at telling others what to do. Especially other Americans.

The kicker is that I voted for Obama, and the only solace is that I'm not dealing with a McCain/Palin administration. I have no doubt we would be All-In in the Middle East right now and Palin a shaky heartbeat away from being head cuckoo in the clock.

In my eyes, that's all Obama has going for him right now. The fact that the Republicans always find someone worse and less in touch with the country. It was about this time when Clinton rebounded from his mid-term woes and went on to the greatest economic boom in my lifetime. Watcha got, Obama? It's time to impress. Because I'm feeling pretty hopeless these days.
