Stay positive
by Matt Worley

I wanted to be positive this week.

But it was so windy.
And that homeless man really wanted a cigarette.

I thought it should be all roses and no thorns.

But we just anted up for a lot of pork.
And chicken sounds better to me right now.
I guess a little of the other white meat is okay.
Why is it always pork and not, say, fish? Y'know, "We loaded that bill with a bunch of salmon." Or, "What's with all the catfish?"

I know there are good stories out there. Things we'd be proud to hear about.

But the $245K winner really wanted millions.
And these pretzels are making me thirsty.
Now I'm all out of whiskey.

Maybe it's just the little things. We should look at those.

But they're so small, and it's always about the big picture.
And someone just splashed blood red paint all over everything.
Covering the canvas, especially the little things I wanted to evaluate for effectiveness.
We're gonna have to start over from scratch because this big picture is just ruined.

I think what this album needs are more thirty minute songs of frogs mating. At least one more, y'know. Maybe that can be the album and then you release the singles as EPs with actual songs on them. So you listen to the EP for your quick fix, and then erase it all with the frogs. Sixty minutes of frogs.

Don't tell me it won't work, I'm trying to stay positive.

Even though all the car dealerships are going under.
And new cars are only slightly more than old cars, because they can't sell a credible warranty anymore. Seven years or 70,000 miles? Who's gonna be around in seven years?

Think about this, though. All those independent mechanics who were worried they'd get pushed out of business because the dealers would service everything? They're on cloud nine right now.

Of course, I have to take a day off work to get my car fixed.

I'm sorry. I was trying to keep on the positive tip. And maybe I can work from home for a day while the mechanic does his thing. It's not always a bad thing, these bad things.

Sometimes it just looks really ugly and bad and bleeding and dying.

And it's always darkest before the dawn.

Dawn is coming an hour later now, so it's showers in the dark for the next few weeks.

Matt Worley is looking forward to a little bit of that government catfish.
