Baby steps
a stand up SUIT column by Chris Jungle

She made it happen little by little.
She couldn't do anything at first.
She could roll after a while.
She went to her left. Always rolling to her left.
She didn't like to be on her belly.
She would roll and cry.
She began to not cry when she rolled.
She didn't want to crawl.
She wanted to stand.
She learned to crawl and forgot about standing.
She crawled slow then quick.
She thumped when she crawled.
She thump, thump, thumped.
She always let you know she was coming, thump, thump, thump.
She started pulling herself up.
She held onto things while she stood.
She started to let go.
She stood up and sat down.
She began slowly pushing carts at the grocery store.
She stood up and stayed up.
She took baby steps and fell down.
She takes baby steps across the room.
She sneaks up behind me.
She is behind me right now.
She is clapping her hands and laughing.
She is gone again.
She is sneaky.
She is in the other room playing with toys.
She is growing up. Not so fast, but right on time.
She is 13 months old and walking short distances.
She is my daughter, and we're actually starting to hang out together.
She is starting to be comfortable alone with me.
She is beginning to toddle.
She is my little toddler.

Chris Jungle is starting to toddle as well.
