Ways to save
an economical SUIT column by Chris Jungle
Everyone keeps telling me how to save money, so I thought I'd tell people some of my spendthrift ways. Give them a try:
Bundle those utilities.
Thrift shop shopping.
Buy less but better booze.
Only one big item purchase this year.
Use the buck gas treatment when you fill up.
Ditch the cell phone.
You don't have to keep up with the Jones'.
Decide how much to spend at the supermarket before you even go.
Walk to destinations less than a mile away.
Matinees and dollar flicks.
Netflix for movies at home.
Don't take fertility drugs or artificially inseminate yourself.
Spend your change when you have it.
Eat out one less day a week.
Go to parks instead of amusement parks.
Sleep (it's free!).
Read (also free).
Minimize your schedule, eliminate those things less meaningful.
If you don't have the money, don't buy it.
Use blankets and comforters when it get really cold.
Don't invest in the stock market right now (no bottom).
Budget to where you make more than you spend.
Cook your own meals with fresh food.
Minimize monthly bills.
Recycle.
Stop complaining and start doing.
Be proactive about your health (less prescriptions).
Work a job (even if it's beneath you).
Simplify, simplify, simplify.
Suck it up.
Tighten your belt.
Don't be too nostalgic about the past.
Live within your means.
Realize it's going to be okay.
Chris Jungle gets by.
