As Mel Brooks told us in History of the World Part 1, 'it's good to be the king.' Apparently it's good to be all the king's horses and all the king's men as well. Humpty Dumpty may be a lame duck president, but you can bet everyone in the president's corner will get paid for another year and a half. Carry out smear campaigns on behalf of the man like Scooter Libby, and you will get your sentence commuted. The Vice President is an island unto himself and will not cooperate with anyone on anything. The Attorney General fired a more than a handful of high ranking judicial officials, is not really sure why he did, and has the complete confidence of the President.

What good is the judicial system these days? Sure, we can still put black men behind bars whenever we want--except for O.J. Simpson--but we can't touch the current administration for anything.

The President & Vice President & then Secretary of State Colin Powell lied to everyone about the reasons to attack Iraq. They have admitted that all of their reason were false, but they apparently didn't know that. Were they complete idiots or just liars and fabricators? Take your pick. We used to go to war because of sketchy incidents like the Gulf of Tonkin. Now we go to war on sketchy intelligence. Intelligence has been sketchy for this administration since the year 2000.

I know I'm not saying anything everyone doesn't already know. I know I'm speaking in double negatives. I know the president's approval rating is somewhere in the twenties. Nobody likes what is going on, but nothing is being done about it.

The latest sinful move is the commuting of Scooter Libby's sentence by the President. A federal judge found the evidence overwhelming about his outing of a CIA agent and sentenced him to 30 months in Club Fed. The President thought decided that was too harsh and ordered him to pay a fine instead. Even Paris Hilton had to serve three weeks for her crime.

Was Scooter Libby's sentence too harsh? Probably. Not because he was innocent, but I truly believe he was just the fall guy. The real leakers were probably Karl Rove and Dick Cheney, but no one could prove it. If you can't prove it, it didn't happen. Also, if you close your eyes, no one can see you. Still believe the government has your best interests at heart? Still believe in the Tooth Fairy and Santa Claus?

The commuting of Scooter Libby's sentence just proves more of what we already know. This administration is above the law. They are Judge Dredd. They are going to get a away with it. Their only true punishment is that they will go down in history as one of the worst administrations in American History. They have paid off their buddies with defense contracts and high gas profits. They have all gotten fatter during the beginning of the new millennium, and America has suffered with its nonchalance to it all.

No one will be held accountable. Not the fall guy Scooter Libby. Not Alberto Gonzalez. Not Dick Cheney. Not Karl Rove. Not even the President. They are getting away with it. Outright lies, propaganda, civil rights violations, unjust foreign wars, non-bid contracts, overruling federal judges. The list goes on, but the beat goes on as well.

The only thing that has truly changed for me in the past six and a half years is that everything costs more. Gas, food, rent, utilities. Everything cost more, and the quality is the same.

How can they get away with it? Because a funny thing happened in 2000 & 2004. Half the country voted these dishonest, warmongering, scheming, immune to the law folks into the highest office in the land. All on the premise that they would keep us safe. Who said I wasn't safe in the first place? Oh yeah, they did.

So now, we sit and wait. Those who are not caught are innocent. Those who are caught will be pardoned. Those who protest will be monitored. Those who react will be arrested. Those who are in charge will not talk.

Nothing surprises me anymore. But I do beg your pardon when I say I can't wait until this administration disappears from the power in America forever.
