All of the commercials are approved by someone these days. And all the approvals seem to be approving messages that aren't really about the person approving, but rather about people who aren't approving. Making the approval a kind of authorization of a general pile of bile. Why didn't anyone ask me for my approval to have to watch this shit?

It's almost April--which is quite different from being almost October or almost November. Am I going to have to put up with this crap for the next seven plus months? Probably.

Everyone seems to understand this is going to be a close election. The reason it's going to be close is because no one has changed their mind much from the last election. The people who hated Bush then, pretty much still hate him now. And the people who loved Bush then, pretty much still love him now.

Nothing has changed, but these attacks--from both sides--are giving everyone the approval to be mean. I haven't escaped this either. I'm appalled, aghast and apoplectic at all of the bullshit we hear from the White House. Most of it, of course, does not come from the Prez. It comes from people underneath him. This gives him a nice stream of shit to step across when people accuse him of being mean. He isn't actually saying anything--even though he's approved all of these messages.

Kerry is being mean. He's found a spine for the next seven months, and I'm sure he'll keep it up. No one wants to see a stiff or meek candidate for president. Everyone's taping their hands, getting ready to rumble.

And I'm tired.

The primary season took about a month or two less than it usually does. The Prez had no challengers, so the primaries on the Republican side are meaningless. I don't know if they've canceled them or if they happen and no one reports it. They would be about as symbolic as the last Iraqi election where Saddam Hussein got 100% of the vote (or was it 99.9%, with the remaining percentage shot out back when their vote was cast?).

The Democrats started early and finished early. Everyone's getting in line, just like we all said they would. And now we have seven months to go.

I hope we get a break. I'm sure the Prez can take some more vacation, and let his underlings say all the things he never actually says. Kerry has a lot of ground to cover, he's got to pick a running mate--he should take a break, too. We all know who's on the ballot. Giving us all a week or two to stop talking about this election would do a lot for the general goodwill of the country.

I have to wonder if there really are swing voters out there. If there are people who are still wondering or deciding about which way they're going to vote. It seems to me everyone made up their mind last year, and all of this is just a marathon to keep PR firms in business. The votes have actually already been cast, and we just won't find out who won until November.

So, how about this? Can we take a month off? Maybe June. June is good because kids are out of school. We can all go and watch some crappy computer animated live action adaptation of a comic book only a hundred people read until the trailers started showing up on the Internet.

We need distractions, because we're tired of this reality. We're tired of people who have more money than we'll ever have talk about being down home, good, decent regular people. We're tired of finding out these good, decent regular people who want to run the country routinely give millions of dollars to their already rich friends to do things. Important things. Things only people who are really rich could actually do. At least that's the way it seems. Which is actually like giving rich people welfare to do jobs they really don't have to do well. They just get a title and a salary and blame someone who doesn't make as much money as them when things go wrong. Like this is different from any other multi-national corporation--except it's our government.

Giving rich people money because they know other rich people makes sense, doesn't it? I mean, way more sense than giving poor people money for food to eat and get by. Poor people are lazy and don't deserve the government's help. Rich people know what to do with their money (spend it on themselves, of course), so they should get it.

Damn, I think I got off the point. Oh yeah, now I remember. Can we take a break? Cause this election isn't really about us (the big US, like We The People US), it's about the rich friends who will get the good jobs (or keep them if the Prez gets to keep his) when someone is elected in November.

The rest of us can go get fucked, cause nothing will really change for us after November. We don't get more vacation. We don't get a bonus. We don't get more government assistance. We just get official confirmation of who we're going to complain about for the next four years.
