Sometimes humans are good.
They wave as they pass each other.
They yield to the right of way.
They shake hands, pat backs, give hugs.
They buy the next round of drinks.
They give up the last cheese stick.
They let others talk about their problems.
They provide solutions.
They hold open the door.
They give all their change to the homeless.
They stand in line without complaining.
They try to help others in need.

Sometimes humans are bad.
They create laws to enslave.
They don't care about whoever is sitting next to them.
They rape.
They pillage.
They mindlessly consume.
They enslave themselves.
They take advantage of their power.
They don't consider the consequences.
They videotape everything.
They build monuments to acts of stupidity.
They let parts of the world rot as other parts thrive.
They cut down too many trees.
They kill too many non-human animals.
They kill each other.
They write long lists of their faults and then do nothing about them.

Sometime in the future humans will have to own up to their faults.
They'll have to separate what they need from what they want.
They'll need to control their population.
They'll have to go where no human has gone before.
They'll have to go back to places they left for dead.
They'll have to rebuild what has been torn down.
They'll have to hold hands and sing.
They'll have to step forward with their eyes closed.
They'll have to open their eyes wider than they ever have before.
They'll have to think about their actions before they act.
