9/7/26:
Tread boldly

Lola Pony creates her music any way she can. She samples (her voice, found sound, whatever), finds a few beats lying around and then calls it a day, frequently after less than two minutes.

Her Bandcamp description of herself is hilarious, and I'll let it speak for itself. But the gist is that this London artist Isn't particularly interested in sounding like anything else on the planet. And her songs back that up.

Nominally pop, I guess, but so whacked out (even within the skimpy confines) that she's probably best left to ply the seas of weird. Is she making a grand statement about politics? Life? What's like to be someone on the outside?

Maybe. Maybe she's just making music the only way she knows how. Either way, her creativity is mind-bending, and these playful songs are just the tonic for our sour times. Sometimes the experimental is a tough swallow. Lola Pony is one of the brightest, easiest sells from the bizzaroverse I can imagine. Immensely fun and quite possibly profound.
