Just how dark do you like your darkwave? Blood Magick is Swedish, and some of the production here definitely borrows from the fine Swedish death metal scene. There's a throb, but there's a whole lot of black magic flowing as well.

More scene setting than scene stealing, Blood Magick declares its principles (tight beats, scrim-soaked vocals and synths that are heavier than they are moody) and then simply rides them out. Melody is hardly a consideration at all.

Which is why I asked the question at the top. This is not yer average overly dramatic American darkwave. This is understated, gnarly darkwave that hardly sticks its head above the ground at all. It's pretty sick that way. And Blood Magick has been travelling these waters for years.

I'm being overly terse on this one, but it simply is what it is. If you like hot beats, dark thoughts and a generally cruel experience, Blood Magick is here for you. A very acquired taste, to be sure, but one that will provide immense succor for those who crave it. Delicious.
