| 6/4/26: [undefined] When is a Bad Mothers Union song over? When it's over. The first track, "Jerusalem Jones", clocks in at more than 20 minutes. The second, a pleasant punky thrash named after the band, barely makes a minute. And just like its disparate song lengths, the band brings in all sorts of sounds and ideas throughout.
But above all, play this shit loud, okay? Yes, there is some spectacular musicianship and a few wildly creative moments, but all of it is improved by greater sonic intensity. Bad Mothers Union has no intention of using silence as a tool. These six songs clock in at a CD-ready 70 minutes or so, but they don't feel long at all. The propulsive nature of the band keeps the songs in motion, and the sound is glorious. When it finally fades to black, you might realize you've been holding your breath. Perfect for a trip to the frontal lobes, but just as great for blasting with the windows open. Sonic bliss embodied. | |
